Key medical aid, also known as Key Health medical aid, provides a wide range of medical aid options. From hospital cover to a full comprehensive option are available, providing you with the possibility of finding an affordable medical aid.

Key Health offers 5 options to choose from and you are sure to find a plan that suits your needs. Key health compares well with other medical aid schemes in relation to premiums and benefits. The plans are:

The Platinum plan: This is the most comprehensive plan available at Key health with 100% Key health rates cover for hospital benefits. A very generous day-to-day cover; up to R7010 for the principle member with additional cover for other beneficiaries are included. Cover starts at R4630 per month.

Key medical aid provides a wide range of medical aid options to choose from.

The Gold plan: This plan has unlimited hospital cover that pays up to 100% of scheme rates. This plan contains a medical savings account coupled with generous day-to-day benefits. Premiums start from R2830 per month.
The Silver plan: The Silver plan provides unlimited hospital cover paid at 100% of the key health rates. It also includes adequate day-to-day benefits. Cover starts at R2122 per month.
The Equilibrium Plan: This plan contains unlimited hospital cover paid up to 100% of the key health rates. Specialists are covered at up to 150% of the scheme rates for in-hospital services. A medical savings account covers your day-to-day benefits. Cover starts at R1274 per month.
The Essence Plan: This is a hospital plan with an unlimited overall annual limit. This plan pays up to 100% of the Key health rates. This plan does not include day-to-day cover. Premiums start at R 985 per month.

Included in all the plans are the Health Booster plan: This plan mainly focuses on preventive medical care. The plan is more like an added benefit than a separate plan. Some of the health booster plan’s benefits are:

  • Preventative care; including immunizations, vaccinations and flu shots.
  • Early detection tests: pap smears, mammograms, prostate tests, health assessment and HIV/AIDS tests and counselling.
  • Screening tests like blood pressure and cholesterol.
  • A weight loss program.
  • Maternity benefits including consultations and scans. This benefit needs to be pre-authorized.

Young adults up to the age of 21 pay child rates, these rates are also provided for full-time students registered at a recognized learning institution. The students will receive these rates up to the age of 25.
